About Us – Vancouver Bicycle Club, USA
The VBC sponsors group rides throughout Vancouver and Clark County, and actively supports safe bicycling. Club rides are held throughout the week. We contribute to a number of bicycling advocacy groups in the Pacific Northwest and have representatives to a number of them. Our motto is "Ride Safely and Have Fun!"
Come out and try a ride or two. Come check out our next club meeting. We're a decent group of folks with riders at every level from beginners to those who get bored on rides of less than a hundred miles. Most of our rides are for beginning through strong intermediate riders. Many of us appreciate the social aspects of cycling almost as much as the riding itself. Caffeine or some other form of extra calories often culminates a jaunt around town or one out in the hills. We think you'll be able to find at least one ride that sounds like fun on our Calendar. Believe in who we are and what we're doing? Join us!
Our signature ride is the RACC, the Ride Around Clark County. It is held on the third Saturday of August starting in 2018 and generally attracts somewhere in the vicinity of a thousand riders. Mark your calendars now! Online registration opens in early spring so come on back and register for one of the five choices between 20 and 101 miles.
Information about our rides and events is posted on this website and is updated as needed. For a schedule of VBC rides and surrounding area events, see our Calendar.
Be sure to visit our Riding Tips page for interesting and informative articles on a wide range of cycling related topics. We also all want to return home safely at the end of each ride. Please read our expectations for safe club riding in our Safe Riding Policy. Our motto: Ride Safely and Have Fun!
And now the VBC has a members' Lending Library of over 100 cycling related books and DVD's for your reading and viewing pleasure. For those of you who enjoy the process of mentally interpreting written symbols as much as cutting alternating circles with your feet while seated on a mobile, wheeled device, join the VBC and then check out our current list of available materials!
In addition to the information you can find here on the VBC website, we also highly recommend visiting bikeportland.org- a daily news source that covers the Portland bike scene. It's designed to give Portland area cyclists resources to make their riding experience fun, positive and safe. They have links to many local-area cycling clubs and groups (including the VBC!) and also links to cycling community events and bicycling resources, bike shops etc. A truly informative website!
If you like to ride on the spur of the moment you might enjoy the Buddies List. As a member you'll get emails as Buddies decide to take advantage of a nice day and invite other Buddies to ride along with them on a ride that isn't on the ride calendar. You may also get information on other bike-related activities or functions and opportunities to advocate for cycling and cyclists.
