DETAILS
We’re taking the Friday Ride on the road, all the way up north to Tenino, Milepost 88 off of I-5. This is an out and back on a paved bike trail, Rails to Trails, so it is flat, flat, flat. It’s a beautiful trail, fully shaded, along a river, well maintained, and not crowded. It’s about 27 miles on the trail from Tenino City Park to Lacy, WA You can ride all of it or turn around whenever you’ve had enough. There is a very cool free and outdoor sculpture garden about 12 miles from the start and this is a must see and a nice break with Porta Pottie.
What the trail doesn’t have is water or food so load up your bike with snacks and fluids. There is a great spot to stop at a picnic table to eat your bar or PBJ. If you go to the end in Lacy there is a store right off the trail where you can purchase water, etc.
It takes about an hour and 30 minutes to drive to Tenino City Park, the starting point. We’re going to start the ride at 9:30 am.
Tenino City Park 201 Washington Ave E. Tenino, WA
Since it’s an out and back you can go at your own pace. I’ll be riding 14-16 mph. It’s not a race. We’ll regroup at the Sculpture Garden and at the picnic table.
My friend Liz turned me onto this ride, it’s official name is the Western Chehalis Rails to Trails. It’s magical. I can’t ride this trail without thinking about riding it with her. So I’m calling it the Liz Koperski Memorial Ride. We’ll celebrate her life by having a great ride on a great trail.
Contact me if questions.
Carpooling is recommended as it’s a bit of a drive and a long day.
