DETAILS
Banks-Vernonia Trail Ride
This is about a 42-mile round-trip ride (it's an out and back, so you can go as far as you want). The ride starts from the Banks Trailhead and is on a paved rails-to-trails bicycle and pedestrian path. The route is mostly in shaded forest.
The ride has approximately 900 feet of elevation gain and loss each way, with a lunch stop at the halfway point in Vernonia. BYOS & H20: Bring your own snacks and water.
In Vernonia, we'll have lunch at either El Amigo (a Mexican food truck) or the Blue House Cafe (Mediterranean).
The ride starts at 10:00 AM from the Banks Trailhead.
Directions and Parking
From Portland, go west on US-26 for about 21 miles. Go about 1 mile past State Route 6 and stay on US-26, turn left onto NW Banks Road.
If the parking lot at the trailhead is full, additional parking is available across the street (south & is a gravel lot), at Five Star Builders, (13981 NW Main St.), is across the railroad tracks from the trailhead parking lot or Ziply Fiber Optics located just down Main Street in Banks.
Carpooling is strongly recommended, as it's a long drive and helps at the trailhead parking lot.
For any updates or questions you are welcome to text the ride leader at 360-798-6629.
