DETAILS

This is a slow paced, 12-13 mph ride through the neighborhoods and bike paths of Vancouver. In the summertime when there are 15-20 riders this is like a parade of bikes waving at all the neighbors who often come out to see the bikers. It’s an enjoyable experience going slow and getting to know your fellow riders. It will show you several cut throughs between neighborhoods and links to roads you never knew existed. All of the roads are low to no traffic and also incorporate several bike paths. There are many twists and turns on this route and it is a good exercise for staying safe while riding in a group.

No rider is left behind on this ride and everyone pitches in when there is a flat tire or a mechanical problem.

This ride stops at Seize the Bagel for coffee and snacks mid ride. This gives the riders a chance to drink coffee, use the restroom and get some more socializing done.

After the coffee break, there is a 6 mile ride back to the start and the ride often breaks up with some riders taking off to go home or get back to the start at a faster pace.

This is a VBC classic ride that has been going strong for 30+ years and many VBC riders started out riding the Tour as their introduction to the VBC.  It is a great ride to make friends and learn your way around town on a bike. Lifelong friendships have been forged on this ride.

This ride goes all winter long! If the weather is particularly nasty the time will be changed to a later start. That will be announced via the Buddies List on Tuesday mornings after the ride leader looks at the weather forecast. This is a safe winter ride because of it’s lack of hills and railroad tracks and you are never too far from your starting point.

Enjoy!
