DETAILS

This ride is part of a series of weekend rides designed to help you prepare for the Metric Plus route at this year's Ride Around Clark County event. We're not training on the RACC route itself, but we will build up to similar distance and elevation gain.

This week's ride uses the popular Reverse Newliner route. This route is a bit longer than last week's route and features even more climbing!

From Salmon Creek we head west and north towards Ridgefield along country roads that are usually lightly traveled though inevitably we see at least a few cars. The route includes a series of rolling hills, along with two more challenging climbs. The first climb from NW Krieger Rd up to NE 209th St is the warm-up for a series of rolling hills that lead into Ridgefield.

The route flattens out when we hit NW Hillhurst Rd. which leads into Rigefield and our major rest stop at Overlook Park. The pace on Hillhurst often picks up as the flat terrain encourages riders to sprint toward the stopping point. Clean restrooms and a working water fountain are available at Overlook Park!

After the break, we tackle the mile-long climb out of Ridgefield, stopping to regroup at the top. From there we heard north again and eventually crossing the freeway near the Ilani casino. We turn south and head back towards Salmon Creek, tackling a few more rolling hills along the way.

EVERYONE IS WELCOME!

This is a regroup ride, so if you're faster or slower than the ride leader you'll need to know the route! If you have a GPS bike computer (Garmin, Wahoo, Hammerhead, etc) you should download the route to your computer before the ride.

VBC members get free turn-by-turn directions when using the RideWithGPS app on their smartphone! Find instructions for using RideWithGPS on the Club's Resources page. We also have advice on repurposing an old cellphone to provide GPS Navigation on the Cheap.

NOTES
