Deer Island Ride 9 AM (OR)

Distance: 82 mi  Terrain: Significant  Elevation Gain:  It's Lap.  It's a lot.  Pace: 16-18+ mph

Ride Type:  Non-group/re-group

Weather Cancels?

Ride cancelled for lightning, snow, ice.  We ride in light rain because, geez, it's the Pacific Northwest!

Description:

My friends, we are not going deer hunting! Please leave your dogs at home.

Columbia county  has become my favorite area to ride bicycle. Besides all the hills it also offers the beautiful scenery of the NW.

From the start, we will head north on Hwy 30 for a few miles. We pick up the Scappoose-Vernonia Hwy all the way to Hwy 47. After a short stop at Big Eddy Co. Park we will head north almost to the town of Rainier then the route will travel east. After a lunch break at Deer Island, we will continue eastbound on Hwy 30 for a few miles before heading South on the some of the quiet country roads and back to the start.

Registration:

Registration is not required. You don't have to be a member to try us out but we'd ask that you join if you're riding with us consistently.

Expectations:

Please arrive 15 minutes before the start of the ride to sign up and be a part of the announcements and safety briefing.

Riders are expected to have read the club's Safe Riding Policy and  be familiar with club Ride Style Definitions. Please direct questions or concerns to the ride leader or our club Road Captain.

Helmets are required. Lights (front and rear), Road IDs, cell phones, tool kit, mirrors, and pump are recommended. Check your bike and gear before you come to make sure it's in good working order.  Seriously.

Please communicate with your leader if you decide to go off route.

Remember - we want to be awesome representatives of the cycling community in Clark County and spread a love and respect for our great sport by obeying all traffic laws and riding in a safe and courteous manner.  Ride safely and have fun!
